| Down & Dirty at the Shagwong

There is only one word that can describe the Shagwong restaurant and tavern, “Cool!” This is the place to go for good affordable food and tons of late night fun in Montauk. It has been a fixture on Main Street for as long as I can remember (and that’s a long time) and the folks at Shagwong never disappoint. The tavern is probably Shagwong’s most alluring feature. It is noisy and fun, the way a bar should be. In the summer it gets packed with locals and visitors, but everyone is great. In the off-seasons, it is one of Montauk’s busier sports. Oh, and then there is the food. I suggested the pan-fried cod or the pistachio-crusted salmon. Start with the Manhattan clam chowder.
